Land Acknowledgement
We, the Mavericks Lacrosse Club, acknowledge that we play and gather on Treaty 7 territory, the traditional lands of the Blackfoot Confederacy (Kainai, Piikani, Siksika), Tsuu T’ina, and Stoney Nakoda Nations. We also recognize the Métis Nation of Alberta, Region #3, within their historical Northwest Métis Homeland.
We honor the Indigenous peoples who have stewarded this land for generations and are grateful to the Traditional Knowledge Keepers and Elders, past and present.
In the spirit of reconciliation, we commit to learning, respect, and inclusion.
The Maverick bull, a symbol of strength and resilience in many Indigenous cultures, reflects our values of unity, endurance, and connection to the land.
We recognize the Creator’s hand in all things and our place as guests on this sacred land.
